This course is designed for General Dentists who want to confidently diagnose, prevent, and manage common periodontal conditions in everyday clinical practice. It is ideal for clinicians who wish to strengthen their periodontal knowledge without undertaking specialist training.

Do I need previous experience in periodontics?

No. The course begins with the fundamentals of periodontal diagnosis and gradually progresses to practical treatment planning and non-surgical periodontal management. No previous periodontal training is required.

Does this course qualify me as a Periodontist?

No. This is a continuing professional development course designed to enhance your confidence and competence in managing periodontal disease within general practice. It does not replace specialist training or postgraduate qualifications in Periodontology.

Will this course help me know when to treat and when to refer?

Yes. One of the core objectives of the programme is helping you identify which periodontal conditions can be managed confidently in general practice and which cases should be referred to a specialist.

Is the course practical?

Yes. The course is highly practical and focused on real clinical decision-making. Rather than concentrating on advanced specialist procedures, it teaches evidence-based protocols that can be immediately implemented in everyday dental practice.

You will have access throughout the duration of the programme (2 weeks), plus an additional 2 months after completion for revision and review.

How will I be assessed?

You will complete one multiple-choice assessment at the end of each of the 10 modules, followed by a final comprehensive multiple-choice examination covering the entire course.

Is there a passing requirement?

Yes. Students must successfully complete all required assessments to receive their certificate.

What certificate will I receive?

Upon successful completion, participants will receive the EIHE Certificate in Periodontics for Daily Practice, validated by Clínica Torres Carranza (Seville, Spain).

Who teaches the course?

Will I be able to interact with the faculty?

Will I learn periodontal charting and diagnosis?

Yes. The course teaches a systematic approach to periodontal examination, periodontal charting, diagnosis, staging, grading, and treatment planning based on current international guidelines.

Will I learn scaling and root planing techniques?

Yes. The programme covers the principles of non-surgical periodontal therapy, including instrumentation, scaling and root planing protocols, maintenance, and patient education.

Will I learn periodontal surgery?

The course introduces the indications for common periodontal surgical procedures so you understand when they may be appropriate. However, the primary focus is on diagnosis, prevention, and non-surgical periodontal management suitable for general dental practice.

Will I learn how periodontal disease affects implants and restorative dentistry?

Yes. The course explains the relationship between periodontal health, implant success, prosthodontics, orthodontics, and long-term restorative outcomes.
